Kolkata: A group of 40-50 people allegedly barged into the Dum Dum Pramod Nagar factory of Eastern Organic Fertilizers Pvt Ltd, off Belgharia Expressway, around 6.30 pm on Saturday and demanded that people of their choice be appointed at the plant.
The group assaulted several staffers, including a senior officer, and created a ruckus at the solid waste management factory, according to the complaint. The company also alleged that the group demanded extortion money and threatened employees with dire consequences.
He said he would write to CM Suvendu Adhikari and the industries minister, seeking their intervention, as local police were yet to take action against those allegedly involved. “They introduced themselves as associates of a local influential party functionary and assaulted some of our senior staff, including plant in-charge Ritesh Agarwal,” Satnaliwala told TOI . “We have received a complaint and a probe has been launched,” an officer said. Dum Dum BJP MLA Arijit Bakshi, however, said the dispute appeared to have arisen over protests against alleged illegal activities in the area.
Company MD Sudhir Satnaliwala urged the state to invoke the Anti-Goonda Bill to ensure the safety of workers employed by small and medium-sized businesses.
