Bodies of Deshraj alias Chhote (40) and his wife Sushma (36), who went missing on Monday morning after leaving home to collect firewood, were recovered on Tuesday at locations about 500 metres apart.
Police said Deshraj died of ante-mortem hanging, indicating he was alive when hanged, while Sushma died of strangulation. SP KK Bishnoi said: “The reason why the man was wearing his wife’s lower remains a mystery. Bijnor : The mystery surrounding the deaths of a couple in Bijnor deepened after a post-mortem examination found that the woman had been strangled and her husband had died by hanging. Investigators remain baffled over why the man was wearing his wife’s lower garment when his body was found. Sushma was found near Ganga, while Deshraj was found hanging from a tree in a jungle. A four-member medical panel ruled out sexual assault. His torso was naked. There is no circumstantial evidence yet to explain it,”
