The arrested persons are Nazma Akter, 40, Taslima Khatun, 25, Moyna Khatun, 29, and Nasri Bheebi, 28. Kannur : Kannur City Police on Thursday arrested four Bangladeshi women for allegedly staying illegally in the country.
The police registered a case under sections of Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 in the incident and produced the accused before the court.
Identity cards issued by Bangladesh govt and fake Indian identity documents were recovered from the women, according to the police. They were arrested following a tip-off that they were staying illegally at a rented house in the town. Following this, the police obtained a search warrant from the court and conducted a raid. All the four persons had been working at a spa in Kannur town for the past few months. Later, they were remanded to judicial custody. The police suspect that an organised network bringing Bangladeshi nationals into India using forged documents was involved in the case. The Mumbai-based network brings illegal migrants to various parts of the country.
On Wednesday, another woman from Bangladesh was arrested on similar charges.
