Kochi : Piravom Police arrested three men in connection with a case where a group assaulted a man and set him on fire in the early hours of Thursday.
The arrested persons are Chandanu Chandran, 36, Salbarin Mathew, 32, and Dev C G, 36, all natives of Piravom. As per FIR, the alleged incident took place near Kochupally Ground on Sneha Bhavan Road, Piravom, between 12.15am and 1.30am. The victim, Arun Prakash, a resident of Kakkad in Piravom, was rushed to Kottayam Medical College Hospital with severe burns. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. FIR states that the first accused, Jishnu, along with three others, allegedly targeted Prakash alleging that he used abusive language to a woman, a relative of Jishnu, over a phone call. The men allegedly summoned Prakash to Sneha Bhavan Road where an argument ensued. One among them then opened a bottle of petrol and hurled it on Prakash. They then set him on fire using a lighter. Jishnu too suffered burns and was hospitalised. Download the TOI App.
