Mumbai: A 25-year-old Pune resident, Jaydeep Meghraj Nemade, died of a heart attack after he suddenly felt unwell while waiting in the long queue with friends at Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati in Parel on Sept 17.
Police said it was not a case of overcrowding, and the exact cause of his death will come out only after his post-mortem.
At around 11.40 pm on Sept 17, while standing in the queue, Nemade, who was the only son in the family, complained of feeling uneasy and having difficulty breathing.
The officials said they suspect it could be the case of a heart attack. Jaideep Meghraj Nemade, a resident of Pune and originally from Jalgaon, had come to Mumbai with his friends to seek darshan at the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. Jairaj was a mechanical engineering graduate and had also completed an MBA. He was working in Pune.
Lalbaug Ganeshotsav Mandal office-bearers shifted him to Global Hospital by ambulance, but he died during treatment. Kalachowki Police registered an accidental death case.
