Mangaluru: The BJP will organise a padayatra and public meeting in Mangaluru on Friday as part of its ‘Prajaprabhutva Ulisi-Arajakate Alisi’ (Save Democracy-Eradicate Anarchy) campaign, with around 20,000 participants expected from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The campaign aims to counter what the party alleges is misinformation spread by the Congress regarding EVMs and SIR and attempts to create political unrest in the country.
The padayatra will commence at 3 pm from Mini Vidhana Soudha near Clock Tower and culminate in a public meeting at Kadri ground. Around 5,000 participants are expected from Mangaluru City South constituency alone. Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Suresh Gopi and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya are among the prominent leaders scheduled to address the gathering.
Speaking about the campaign during a press meet on Wednesday, Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said the Congress including leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi is unable to accept the NDA govt returning to power for a third consecutive term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
