Davanagere : Davanagere police have arrested a 38-year-old auto driver for allegedly stabbing his lover to death following an argument at Shekarappa Layout on Saturday morning.
The victim, Nagaratna, 46, a domestic helper, was living alone in the locality.
Police said the accused, Nagaraj, had been in a relationship with her for nearly two decades. Police said no one else was present in the house at the time of the incident. However, their relationship had reportedly deteriorated over the past three years, leading to frequent disputes. Nagaratna’s husband and three children were living separately. Nagaraj, who is unmarried, had been living with his mother in an area under the Gandhi Nagar police station limits.
Both had approached police on earlier occasions regarding their differences.
Officials said further investigation is underway. RMC Yard police have registered a case and taken Nagaraj into custody. Police are reviewing the history of complaints and recording statements from neighbours to establish the sequence of events.
