Highlighting Ayushman Bharat, Joshi said over 40 crore Ayushman cards have been issued and more than 10 crore hospital admissions authorised under the scheme. Treatment worth over Rs 1 lakh crore has been provided through a network of more than 30,000 empanelled public and private hospitals across the country. He said the initiative began with the donation of 24 acres of land by Moorusavirmath and has since expanded into a 50-acre integrated academic and healthcare campus in Hubballi. The medical college and hospital together have a built-up area of over 30 lakh square feet and represent an investment of nearly Rs 700 crore. Dr Kore said KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre, which began medical services on Jan 1, 2025, has developed into a 1,200-bed multi-speciality and super-speciality teaching hospital equipped with advanced healthcare and research facilities.
Inaugurating Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu (JGMM) Medical College and KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre, established by Karnataka Lingayat Education (KLE) Society at Gabbur Cross in Hubballi, Joshi said the Centre’s Make in India and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) initiatives had strengthened indigenous manufacturing of medical equipment and reduced dependence on imports. Joshi lauded KLE Society for its contribution to quality education and healthcare, particularly in North Karnataka, and said the institution had played a pioneering role in establishing educational and medical facilities benefiting generations of students and patients.
