Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A suspected Bangladeshi woman was detained during a joint raid by Kotwali police and Southern Command Military Intelligence at Deep Nagar in Kedgaon, Ahilyanagar, on Saturday.
Police found a 54-year-old woman and Chhoturam Narayan Raiji (70), both residents of Kedgaon, along with the woman during the raid. Kotwali police subsequently registered an FIR under sections 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, against the two accused. During questioning, the suspected Bangladeshi woman reportedly disclosed details about her husband, identified as MD Tutul Mulla (37), who was allegedly residing near Satpute Dairy in Ahilyanagar.

“The woman was prima facie suspected to be a Bangladeshi national,” a police officer said. Police said Mulla was from Paigram village under Kulna police station in Khulna district of Bangladesh. Ahilyanagar SP Mummaka Sudarshan said, “The suspected Bangladeshi woman’s nationality and immigration-related details are being verified.
The operation was conducted after Kotwali police inspector Nitin Deshmukh and the military intelligence unit received separate inputs alleging that a woman was providing premises to a Bangladeshi national to facilitate prostitution and collecting money from customers. We are conducting a joint inquiry with Southern Command Military Intelligence and will initiate further action based on the findings. Soon, the deportation process will start. Police are also investigating whether the woman had entered India legally, how long she has been residing in Ahilyanagar and whether other foreign nationals were involved in the alleged racket.
