Varanasi: From Patna to Kashi, a convoy of 25 gleaming sports cars hit the road to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s 25 years in public service as chief minister and prime minister. Organised in the name of Jan Sangh founder Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the rally turned the highway into a moving showcase of the Centre’s welfare schemes, with each car decked out in posters, stickers and slogans highlighting a different initiative.
District Panchayat president Poonam Maurya said the 25 cars symbolised Modi’s 25 years of service, including 13 years as chief minister and 12 years as prime minister.
Rally convener and Bihar BJP vice-president Dr Amrita Bhushan Rathore said the event was organised under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, being held on the occasion of Prime Minister Modi’s birthday. She said Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary flagged off the rally from Patna. Each car represented a major govt initiative related to women, health, agriculture, welfare of the poor and social empowerment, according to Rathore. She said the rally also reflected the impact of infrastructure development, including road widening, flyovers and ring roads, which have reduced travel time between Patna and Varanasi to around four to five hours. BJP district president Ramsakal Patel said welfare schemes had reached the poor and needy during this period.
Schemes displayed included Ayushman Bharat, free housing and toilets, Jan Dhan accounts, pension schemes, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ujjwala Yojana and Lakhpati Didi. Participants also visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and prayed for the Prime Minister’s long life and good health. The programme was attended by regional BJP functionaries, social workers and local citizens.
