Kochi : Kochi Water Metro has crossed the milestone of 8 million passengers, marking another significant achievement for the sustainable and environmentally friendly transport initiative.
A total of 80,23,171 passengers travelled on the Water Metro between its launch on April 26, 2023, and Nov 5, 2026, over a period of three-and-a-half years, according to KMRL. The service recorded 18,44,375 passengers in 2023-24, 21,08,148 in 2024-25 and 24,64,559 in 2025-26. During the current financial year, 15,69,802 passengers used the service until Oct 31.
Water Metro also generated Rs 30.24 crore in ticket revenue till Oct 31. Of this, Rs 4.13 crore was earned in 2023-24, Rs 8.13 crore in 2024-25, Rs 10.89 crore in 2025-26 and Rs 7.07 crore in the current financial year.
