Nashik : Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will conduct special property tax registration and assessment camps across the city from Sept 22 to Oct 1 to bring unregistered properties within the tax net and expand its revenue base. The ward-wise camps will be held in all 31 municipal wards between 10am and 4pm during the 10-day drive to assist property owners whose properties have not yet been assessed or registered under the civic body’s property tax system. The exercise is expected to bring around 25,000 to 30,000 additional properties under the property tax assessment system, and the newly assessed properties could generate an additional annual revenue of Rs15 crore to Rs20 crore, as per civic body estimates, according to an NMC official. NMC records show that Nashik currently has more than 6.22 lakh registered properties spread across its 31 wards and six administrative divisions, with Panchavati and Cidco divisions together accounting for nearly 48% of the city’s total properties. Among all divisions, Cidco witnessed the sharpest rise in the number of assessed properties, as the number of registered properties in the division increased by around 54%, from 97,517 in 2017-18 to nearly 1.49 lakh in the current financial year. Overall, Nashik city’s property tax base has expanded significantly over the past seven years, with the total number of registered properties increasing from 4.26 lakh in 2017-18 to 6.22 lakh at present, reflecting an increase of about 46%. Encouraged by the steady growth in the tax base, the civic administration has set a property tax collection target of Rs 350 crore for the 2026-27 financial year. Last year, the NMC collected Rs287 crore, the highest property tax revenue collected by the civic body since its establishment 43 years ago. The civic body had collected Rs256 crore in 2024-25.

A civic official said the exercise aims to simplify the registration and assessment process and ensure more properties are brought on record for improving compliance among property owners and strengthening NMC’s property tax database. The decision follows directions issued by NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri, in which she instructed the property tax department to intensify efforts to increase revenue collections and identify unassessed properties across the city. Khatri also directed officials to organise ward-level camps and facilitate property assessment and registration for citizens. Download the TOI App.
