Nashik : A 12-year-old boy was found dead at his home in a village in Jalgaon district on Sunday, hours after his father stopped him from joining a local Ganapati immersion procession.
No suicide note was found, and police said they believe the boy ended his life based on the circumstances surrounding his death. The door of the room was not latched from inside when she went to check on him, police said. Jalgaon SP Shrikant Dhivare said police believe the boy subsequently took the extreme step. “We believe that in a fit of rage, the boy ended his life,” Dhivare said. Sub-inspector Sheetal Waje, of the Chopda police station, who is investigating the case, said the boy’s father is a farmer.
Chopda police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the circumstances leading to the boy’s death. His elder brother studies in Std IX. The family lives in a three-storey house that is also shared by the boy’s uncle and his family. The uncle has two sons.
The Std VII student was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a third-floor room of the family’s house by his mother around 5.45pm at Ghumaval village in Chopda taluka.
