About the private Dasara celebrations of the royal family at Mysuru Palace, Pramoda Devi said that throne assembling will take place on Oct 5 along with various religious events. Dasara celebrations are set to begin on Oct 11.
Speaking to reporters at the residential area attached to the Mysuru Palace, she said kambala has a tradition of its own, which cannot be celebrated during Dasara. Kambala could have been hosted in Mysuru after Dasara celebrations, she said and added that it is her personal opinion. When asked about state govt’s decision to celebrate Dasara in a grand way amid drought , she said that Dasara rituals also include seeking divine intervention for good rain. Pramoda Devi also clearly said that till now state govt has not approached her seeking any advice on Dasara celebrations. On making Dasara attractive for Gen Z, she said they only can give better suggestions. On state govt’s decision to invite CMs of southern states, including TN chief minister, to Dasara procession amid protest by farmers, she said for festivals, everyone invites their neighbours.
Mysuru : Mysuru royal family matriarch Pramoda Devi Wadiyar on Monday said that kambala could have been organised in Mysuru any other time but not during Dasara festival.
