Mumbai: Khar police registered an FIR against a 19-year-old college student after her pet dog allegedly bit a 16-year-old junior college commerce student on the calves at a Khar West residential building around 8 pm on Monday. A Khar police officer said the pet owner was called to the police station with her parents and released on notice after she was charged with the offence.
“She had taken the dog for a walk without a muzzle,” said the officer. The girl had reportedly taken the dog, a Labrador-local breed mix, for a walk without a muzzle on the building premises. She was charged with endangering human life or personal safety and negligent conduct concerning an animal.
Due to the dog bite, the student will miss his mid-term examination.
The victim’s mother said the same pet dog had allegedly caused seven other bite injuries in the building. She said her son was terrified, had developed a fever that night and had a swollen leg that bled when he walked. The dog bit his leg when he went downstairs to place a parcel in his vehicle.
