Mumbai: In the wake of the fatal accident on Mumbai Coastal Road on Sunday morning, a group of more than 600 Worli residents has urged the Mumbai police , traffic police, BMC and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to draw up a coordinated plan to tackle speeding, traffic violations, pedestrian safety concerns and noise pollution along the Worli-Coastal Road stretch.
The residents said some food-delivery and quick-commerce riders were frequently involved in such violations and urged the traffic police to meet representatives of Zomato, Swiggy and Blinkit to address the issue. Traffic violations by two-wheelers have also been flagged, including wrong-side driving, no-entry violations, illegal U-turns, signal jumping, lane cutting and driving through pedestrian crossings. The ALM has requested a dedicated Worli-Coastal Road traffic, Pedestrian Safety and Noise-Control Plan, with coordination between the police, BMC and MPCB for sustained enforcement.
