Chennai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will meet students as part of the ‘Voice of Students’ (Manavargalin Kural) campaign in Chennai, at Island Ground on Oct 10, said TNCC president Manickam Tagore. He told reporters in the city on Wednesday that the meeting would be Rahul’s sixth such interaction.
“About 22 lakh students and their families are spending ₹1.32 lakh crore on coaching in private centres across the country. Tagore said that six students have died by suicide due to NEET-related issues in Tamil Nadu this year.
He said Rahul had participated and spoken in detail about various issues faced by the students and youngsters in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, touching upon issues such as question paper leaks, unemployment, “coaching centre and exam loot” and decline in funds for education and safety of the student community. These issues have been elaborately discussed in Rahul’s interaction with students,” he said. This is equal to Union govt’s education budget.
