Jhansi : Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO), Jhansi unit, on Wednesday arrested a lekhpal for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 to process the mutation of agricultural land in Lalitpur district.
Amar Singh, a resident of Sadkora village under Sojna tehsil in Mahroni, approached lekhpal Balkishan Rajput for mutation of agricultural land in the name of his deceased brother, Mohar Singh, who died on Aug 19, 2023, according to the complaint. Singh alleged that the lekhpal demanded Rs 4,000 for processing the inheritance mutation. On Wednesday afternoon, ACO team arrested Balkishan Rajput while he was allegedly accepting Rs 4,000 from the complainant near UP Gramin Bank in Mahroni, Lalitpur.

Officials said a case had been registered against the accused at Kotwali police station in Lalitpur and further legal action was underway. Unwilling to pay the bribe, Singh approached Anti-Corruption Organisation, following which ACO laid a trap. Download the TOI App.
