Haveri : Polling for the Karnataka Legislative Council election from the West Graduates’ Constituency will be held on Oct 23, deputy commissioner and assistant returning officer Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar said on Friday. Nominations open on Sept 29 and close on Oct 6. Scrutiny is scheduled for Oct 7, while candidates can withdraw nominations until Oct 9. Voting will be held from 8am to 4pm, with counting on Oct 27.Haveri district has 22,160 registered voters, comprising 13,951 men and 8,209 women. Ranebennur has the highest number at 5,740, followed by Haveri with 4,200 and Hangal with 2,943. The administration has received 603 Form-18 applications under continuous revision and 20 Form-7 objections, which are being examined. Danammanavar said 28 polling stations have been arranged, including booths at hobli level where required.
The constituency covers Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Haveri and Gadag districts. Nominations and counting will take place in Dharwad. With the Model Code of Conduct in force, surveillance teams have been constituted to check violations. SVEEP activities will also be conducted across the district to encourage graduate voters to turn out.
