BJP Dakshina Kannada District members holding a protest against State Government in Mangaluru on Friday.
Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath alleged that the state’s economy was deteriorating and demanded that the government make its financial accounts public. Former MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor accused the government of misleading the people with empty promises during the Cabinet meeting. MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur also addressed the gathering. The BJP organised the protest to express its dissatisfaction with the government’s announcements and to demand greater accountability from the state administration.
Addressing a BJP protest , Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Sathish Kumpala said the govt had made grand promises ahead of the Cabinet meeting but ultimately left people disappointed. Alleging that the announcements fell short of public expectations, he said the govt had handed only a ‘chombu’ (empty vessel) to the people. Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty termed the Congress govt a ‘bankrupt govt’ and criticised its financial management. He expressed concern over the state’s fiscal condition and questioned the govt’s handling of public funds.
