Kochi : Ernakulam Rural Cyber Crime Police has arrested a 57-year-old man in connection with a case involving alleged derogatory remarks against Sree Narayana Guru on social media.
The police said the accused was also involved in another case registered at the Kalloorkkad police station in 2023.
He had allegedly posted remarks on social media in a manner that defamed Sree Narayana Guru, the Ezhava community and individuals associated with SNDP Yogam, according to the police. The accused, K V Subhash, a resident of Kidangoor, was reportedly a temple priest. Inspector S Sudheesh Kumar, sub-inspectors M Ajesh and C K Rajesh, ASI T N Swaraj and senior civil police officer Lijo Jose were part of the investigation team.
The police registered a case against him after receiving a complaint about a YouTube video in which the man allegedly made the derogatory remarks earlier this month. The accused was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
