Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University and VCA Healthcare signed an MoU on Saturday to promote research and scientific evaluation of herbal formulations and plant-based health products.
BHU VC Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said the partnership would benefit students and researchers by offering opportunities in academia-industry research, scientific evaluation of herbal products and modern biomedical research methodologies. The collaboration aims to strengthen academia-industry research partnerships and support the integration of Ayurveda and herbal medicine with modern scientific evidence.
Research under the agreement will be carried out under the supervision of Prof Raghav Kumar Mishra of the BHU Department of Zoology. His laboratory facilities will be used for the scientific testing of various herbal products and formulations. VCA Healthcare will provide herbal formulations, extracts and related materials required for the studies. The company will also share technical information needed for scientific evaluation and, through mutual agreement, extend financial support for research materials, consumables and human resources. The collaboration will draw on Prof Mishra’s research in male reproductive physiology, reproductive health, stress-induced reproductive disorders and the biological effects of natural products.
