Within 48 hours, two gang fights followed, leading to registration of two FIRs and arrest of four goons, including Razzak, who has 30 cases in his crime sheet, said police. Complainant Shashank Sakhare, 23, told police he was cleaning the stall when the group accused him of failing to help Abid and siding with assailants. The gang members overturned the stall and one of them snatched Rs 800 from his pocket, before they fled.
Police sources said Razzak, who also runs a travel business, was reportedly angry over earlier attacks on his brother, Bhuru, and son, Abid. “We are searching for two more accused,” said senior inspector Suhas Raut. After Abid died in hospital, eight persons were arrested and eight juveniles detained for their role in the murder. Razzak allegedly held a knife to Sakhare’s belly. Jaripatka police registered a fresh FIR — second case against Razzak. He blamed Bhuru’s brother-in-law for conspiring with rivals and arrived on a two-wheeler at a roadside food stall near Munje Chowk. Traffic police alerted the control room. A Sitabuldi police team reached the spot, detained several suspects and questioned them late into the night. One Piyush Patil was arrested. The sequence — Thursday’s killing, Saturday’s Lohapul clash, Sunday’s dawn knife incident at the vendor stall and the afternoon armed appearance at Munje Chowk —raised concern about possible gang reprisals.
