Nashik: The local crime branch of Ahilyanagar police busted a criminal gang involved in defrauding citizens under the pretext of promising a magical money shower. The police arrested three individuals from Pune district and confiscated counterfeit currency notes worth Rs92 lakh, along with other assets.
A police officer said that the action was taken as per guidance from SP Mummaka Sudarshan and Add SP Vaibhav Kalubarme. Based on this information, the team visited the residence of Shewale and conducted a home search in the presence of witnesses, recovering counterfeit Indian currency notes kept in a bag. The police also seized a car and five cell phones from them, all valued at over Rs one crore. A case has been registered against the three people under sections of the BNS and the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act.
On Tuesday, the Ahilyanagar police were gathering information on illegal activities within the MIDC police station limits when they received confidential intelligence stating that Ganesh Shewale, along with his accomplices, was in possession of counterfeit Indian currency notes and intended to use them in financial transactions for personal gain.
