City Police said reports have been submitted to the motor vehicles department (MVD) to initiate proceedings to cancel the driving licences of bus staff found driving under the influence of alcohol or in a rash and dangerous manner
City Police said in a statement on Friday that surprise checks and other inspections conducted from Sept 9 to Sept 30 have uncovered several violations. The police have registered 41 cases against bus drivers driving under the influence of alcohol and 71 cases for dangerous and negligent driving. The police have also received around 1,383 applications from bus staff for the issuance of police verification certificates, and the police are in the process of vetting these applications.
