The Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24 on Thursday night, improving to 3-1 on the season. Watson completed 24 of 33 passes for 268 yards, one touchdown and one interception while leading Cleveland on another late go-ahead drive. The couple married in 2025 after several years together, and she has continued to appear publicly in support of him during his return to the NFL. The scrutiny surrounding Watson stems from the sexual-misconduct allegations made against him beginning in 2021. Two Texas grand juries declined to indict him in 2022, while the NFL separately disciplined him with an 11-game suspension and a $5 million fine following its investigation.
Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns are riding a three-game winning streak, but the quarterback’s latest victory has once again brought attention to his wife, Jilly Anais, and the scrutiny surrounding her decision to stand by him. The reactions largely center on the fact that Jilly isn’t simply dating Watson; she is his wife. Jilly has been visible around Watson during his comeback season. Watson has denied wrongdoing. That history has continued to follow Watson even as his football career has moved forward. In fact, the issue resurfaced during Thursday night’s Prime Video broadcast, when commentators Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit briefly discussed Watson’s controversial past during the Browns-Steelers game. For some fans, that history has also shaped their reaction to Jilly’s continued public support of her husband.
