Kolkata: A mob of nearly 100 people allegedly assaulted a Christian family and disrupted a private prayer gathering in Dhalhara village, East Midnapore, on Friday.
Assailants forcibly entered the residence of Sonali and Bapi Rana during an afternoon prayer service, assaulting residents including a 15-year-old, according to the Bangiya Christiya Pariseba (BCP). The mob planted a Tulsi plant inside the home and coerced the family to chant religious slogans under threat of further violence. The family sought to file an FIR at Keshpur police station with medical reports but left after waiting over six hours without their complaint being registered, following open death threats from the mob inside and outside the station.
