SWR has recorded 4.41 million tonnes of originating freight loading in September, registering 5.9% growth over the 4.17 million tonnes loaded in September 2025

On the revenue front, SWR recorded gross revenue of Rs 870 crore in Sept, an increase of Rs 119 crore (15.9%) over the corresponding month last year. Passenger revenue stood at Rs 357.5 crore, registering a growth of Rs 75.7 crore (26.87%) and exceeding the monthly target by Rs 36.9 crore (11.53%). Passenger traffic increased to 1.5 crore, reflecting a 6.8% growth over the previous year. Freight revenue stood at Rs 465 crore, up by Rs 37.2 crore (8.7%). Other coaching revenue rose to Rs 28.8 crore, a growth of Rs 2.7 crore (10.5%), while sundry revenue stood at Rs 18.87 crore, registering an increase of Rs 3.6 crore (24.1%). Parcel revenue reached Rs 15.8 crore, up by Rs 1.4 crore (10.3%) compared to Sept last year. For the period up to Sept, SWR recorded gross revenue of Rs 4,730 crore, an increase of Rs 221.3 crore (4.9%) over the previous year. Passenger revenue rose to Rs 1,904.1 crore, up by Rs 254.4 crore (15.4%), while passenger traffic increased to 9.2 crore, registering a 4.7% growth. Freight revenue during the period stood at Rs 2,546 crore. Parcel revenue reached Rs 89.5 crore, an increase of Rs 4.5 crore (5.3%), while ticket-checking earnings rose to Rs 33.7 crore, registering a growth of Rs 0.8 crore (2.5%) over the corresponding period last year.
Overall, SWR recorded steady growth in freight loading, passenger traffic and revenue generation, with several key freight commodities and revenue streams posting positive year-on-year growth during in Sept and in the cumulative period through Sept.
