Newly appointed president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, addresses the media at her residence, in Lucknow on Saturday
Lucknow : Acknowledging the challenges ahead of the 2027 assembly elections and the limited time available, newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress president Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ on Saturday said strengthening the organisation, taking all leaders along and maintaining the alliance with the Samajwadi Party would be her immediate priorities. She expressed confidence that Congress would take everyone along, defeat BJP in 2027 and form an INDIA bloc govt in the state. Earlier reporting noted: Mishra, who has deep political roots in the region, succeeds Ajay Rai at a time when Congress is gearing up for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
“Samay kam hai, chunautiyan zyada hain… gathbandhan dharm bhi nibhana hai,” Mishra said after taking charge of the state unit. Her emphasis on “gathbandhan dharm” assumes significance as Congress and Samajwadi Party prepare for the 2027 polls, with the two parties yet to settle the contours of their seat-sharing arrangement. “Strengthening the organisation further in Uttar Pradesh while taking the ideology of Congress, the values of the Constitution and the resolve for social justice to every individual will be my utmost priority,” she said, calling for a collective effort.
Mishra, a three-time MLA from Rampur Khas and Congress Legislature Party leader, succeeds Ajay Rai as state president. Local party leaders and workers burst crackers and distributed sweets to celebrate her elevation.
Earlier, Mishra thanked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge , Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for entrusting her with the responsibility.
