Lucknow: A 32-year-old man was killed after a fight broke out among a group playing ludo under the Purania flyover under Aliganj and Madiaon police station areas on Saturday, police said.
Pradeep Singh (40) went to a roadside salon, picked up a pair of scissors and attacked Rahul repeatedly in the chest and abdomen.
A witness, Salim, said several youths gathered under the flyover to play ludo and were also consuming liquor. Police said the injured man was taken to a hospital, following which his family took him to KGMU for further treatment. Rahul’s maternal cousin Shivam said when the family members reached the spot, Rahul was bleeding heavily and struggling for his life, while police personnel present there were only monitoring the situation. Additional DCP, North Zone, B N Singh, said police are investigating and Pradeep is being interrogated.
Rahul collapsed and the assailant fled the spot. Police nabbed him later. ACP Shashi Prakash Mishra inspected the scene. An argument broke out, following which a blood-soaked youth was found lying at the spot, prompting the witness to alert the police. Rahul died during treatment.
Shivam said Rahul had been married for around five years and had a four-year-old son. The family alleged that an ambulance was not called and that they ultimately took Rahul to KGMU in a rented auto-rickshaw.
