The ghat along the Gomti Riverfront too has been submerged
Officials said more than 10,000 families in the area are affected by flooding and waterlogging during such episodes. Lucknow: LDA has proposed constructing an embankment along the left bank of Gomti river from IIM Road to Pakka Pul to check recurring flooding and waterlogging in Faizullaganj and nearby areas.
LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said the authority plans to spend Rs 182 crore on the project in the 2026-27 financial year from its Infrastructure Fund. He said residents face waterlogging whenever Gomti water level rises and requested that the proposal be taken up for approval. The project is linked to the Green Corridor extension, with a proposed road connecting IIM Road to Pakka Pul through Khadra. The link will improve connectivity to Sitapur Road and support flood protection. The proposal follows repeated waterlogging in low-lying parts of Faizullaganj during heavy rain and rising Gomti levels. The embankment and road link are expected to address both flooding and connectivity. The proposal was sent to principal secretary, housing and urban planning department, for approval. MLA Dr Neeraj Bora wrote to the CM seeking action on the LDA proposal. Download the TOI App.
