Chiefs injury report ahead of Week 4 game vs. Raiders (Via X)
Because of his knee, but there was little sign during the week that his availability was in serious doubt, mahomes appeared on the injury report. Because this is not a one-week issue, that is significant.
Head coach Andy Reid said earlier in the week that Simmons was improving, but the Chiefs have not placed him on injured reserve, suggesting they still expect a return when his recovery allows it. The Kansas City Chiefs will have Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones available for Sunday’s AFC West matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, giving Andy Reid’s team a largely clean bill of health. Mahomes practiced fully all three days despite being listed with a knee issue, while Jones did the same after dealing with a calf problem. The setback comes at left tackle, where Josh Simmons has been ruled out with a back injury after missing practice throughout the week. Kansas City otherwise enters the game without another player carrying an injury designation. That is the kind of development Kansas City wanted before a matchup between two unbeaten AFC West teams. Simmons is the clear exception to Kansas City’s otherwise encouraging injury picture. The tackle did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and was officially ruled out with his back injury. Simmons has now missed another game as he deals with the problem, leaving Kansas City to rely on its tackle depth once again.
The quarterback was a full participant on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
