Kochi : Chief minister V D Satheesan said that govt’s aim is to make KSRTC more professional with more modern facilities and lead it towards the path of comprehensive development. Free travel for women was allowed through the Priyadarshini scheme in the very first cabinet meeting itself, Satheesan said. When this was implemented, some predicted that KSRTC would shut down, but nothing has happened to the institution and KSRTC buses are running with more collection,” the CM said. Several new services have been started as part of resolving the shortcomings of the Paravur depot, he said. In addition, the construction of a special air-conditioned waiting centre for passengers is also in progress, Satheesan said.
“This free travel facility for women is not just a charity, but a symbol of this govt’s respect for the women of Keralam. New interstate packages are also in the plans. Private individuals are also coming forward voluntarily to purchase new buses for KSRTC.
