Kolkata: Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya has written to PM Narendra Modi to build a Paschimbanga Bhavan in Varanasi to strengthen the “spiritual ties of Bengal with the oldest living city in the world”. Calling for renovation and preservation of the historic temple, Bhattacharya said he had written to PM, seeking construction of Paschimbanga Bhavan on the temple premises. The temple constructed by the king of Cooch Behar (Maharaja Harendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur) will also be renovated,” he said. “This heritage property of the Cooch Behar Debottar Trust represents much more than a religious site,” Bhattacharya added.
