Kalaburagi : Lokayukta police arrested constable Anil of Sulepet police station on Sunday for allegedly accepting a Rs 3,000 bribe through PhonePe from a man released on bail.
To avoid reporting in person every week, Chandrakant transferred Rs 3,000 to the mobile number of an intermediary, Krishna. Stay updated with the latest Hubballi news. However, Anil, a writer at the station, allegedly insisted that he report every Sunday to mark his attendance. Chandrakant alleged that Anil demanded the bribe and threatened to have his bail cancelled and send him to jail. Acting on Chandrakant’s complaint, Lokayukta police caught and arrested Anil. Chandrakant Ranganur of Gadikeshwara village had been granted bail on the condition that he appear before the investigating officer at Sulepet police station every month.
