Nashik : Indiranagar police are searching for the president of Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj Samadhi Devasthan Trust after a 27-year-old woman accused him of sexually exploiting her on the promise of marriage.
On Sept 24, the woman’s brother, a Pune resident, approached Indiranagar police alleging that his sister and her six-year-old daughter had been abducted by the trust president and another person. He told police that his sister had called him on Sept 23. He had held the post of the trust’s president since 2022.
She allegedly said the trust president was assaulting her and his associate was threatening to kill her. Senior inspector Manohar Karande, of Indiranagar police station, said the woman subsequently appeared before police and clarified that she had travelled to her uncle’s place on her own. The case initially began as an abduction complaint. When the brother could not contact the woman later, he lodged the complaint. “Three days after the case was registered, it turned out that the woman had gone to her uncle by bus. She personally came to the police station to inform us and also alleged that the president of the trust had been maintaining a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marrying her. Police are searching for the accused, whose current whereabouts are not known.
