In Chikkamaralihalli village, farmer Doddahanumantappa Ningappa Ritti, 60, died after lightning struck him while he was in his field.
He had gone to work and took shelter under a tree when rain began, according to reports. However, lightning struck him, killing him instantly. Savanur police visited the scene after receiving information, conducted an inspection, and registered a case at Savanur police station. In Hiremugadur village, five goats were killed in a similar incident during afternoon rain. The animals belonged to Lakshman Kattekar, a nomadic shepherd from Honnur village in Bailhongal taluk. He had left them to graze on farmland owned by Kanavalli. When the rain started, the goats gathered under a tree, and were struck by lightning.
