Ahmedabad : A 21-year-old murder accused on bail was arrested after allegedly crashing a speeding Swift Dzire into three vehicles, including a BMW, near Iskcon Bridge late on Sunday night. The accused, Himanshu Makwana of Shaktinagar in Amraiwadi, was later traced and arrested by SG-2 traffic police after allegedly leaving Sola Civil Hospital before medico-legal formalities could be completed.
Police said Makwana had been booked by Amraiwadi police in a murder case in 2024 and in another case involving grievous assault. Makwana and two of his friends sustained injuries and were taken to Sola Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Makwana was driving a friend’s car from Pakwan Crossroads towards Iskcon Bridge with six occupants when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speed, according to SG-2 traffic police.
Police said the footage also shows Makwana acknowledging that he was behind the wheel when the crash occurred. He was out on bail at the time of the accident. The Dzire spun near the bridge and slammed into an Innova parked on the service road. After receiving primary treatment, the trio allegedly left the hospital before police could complete the medico-legal procedure. Police later tracked Makwana through his mobile phone number and arrested him.
