Kanpur: ICAR (Indian Agricultural Research Institute) organised a one-day farmer training and exposure programme on “Fermented organic manure and balanced nutrition management” under its CSR-Maruti project. Praveen Kumar said moving towards chemical-free farming is necessary to maintain soil fertility and quality. Pramod Kumar said fermented organic manure is particularly beneficial for crop and vegetable production.
It was conducted under the guidance of Dr SS Rathore, head of the Division of Agronomy and project coordinator, and Dr Jai Prakash of IARI’s Division of Horticulture. Dr Ram Palat, KVK officer-in-charge, explained the effects of fermented organic manure on physical and chemical health of soil, its role in organic farming, methods of application and agricultural utility.
