Hyderabad: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday met Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari at the Chintan Shivir-2026 in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, seeking Centre’s support for major road, highway, elevated corridor, ropeway and Regional Ring Road (RRR) projects in Telangana .
During the meeting, Komatireddy urged Gadkari to expedite approval for a proposed 6-km double-decker elevated corridor between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar and include it in the 2026-27 annual plan. Komatireddy requested financial and cabinet approval for the 161-km northern section of the RRR from Sangareddy to Choutuppal. The minister also sought approval under the Parvatmala scheme for five ropeway projects at Yadagirigutta, Nalgonda, Nagarjunasagar-Nagarjunakonda, Ramagiri Fort and Nizamabad, estimated to cost ₹1,230 crore. He sought sanctions for three ROB/RUB projects under Setu Bandhan and ₹1,227 crore for 33 CRIF road works covering 511 km.
He said the project should be taken up in coordination with the proposed extension of the Miyapur-LB Nagar Metro corridor to Hayathnagar. He also sought Centre’s intervention to take up the southern section, which he said would be crucial for the proposed Bharat Future City, industrial parks and radial roads. “Gadkari said he would look into the issues,” Komatireddy said.
The two-day Chintan Shivir, organised by the Union ministry of road transport and highways, is focusing on PM Gati Shakti and coordination between Centre and states on road infrastructure. R&B special chief secretary Vikas Raj and senior engineers accompanied the minister.
