Ahmedabad: A Vastral resident, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, died after jumping off the double-decker flyover at CTM on Tuesday morning in what is suspected to be a case of suicide. Ramol police registered an accidental death case under BNS. The deceased was identified as Nimesh Patel, a resident of Vastral.
Rajendrakumar Segal (55), a social worker and resident of CTM-Ramol Road, told police that he was heading towards CTM crossroads when he noticed a crowd beneath the flyover.
The incident came to light around 10am, according to the police report. Police said that no identification documents were found on him. Locals said the safety grilles at several points are too low.
On reaching the spot, he saw a man lying on the roadside, bleeding profusely. He had suffered injuries to his head and other parts of his body. The cops initiated a probe and later identified him. The body has been sent for a postmortem. The incident has renewed concerns about safety measures on the bridge. They claimed this was the second such case on the CTM double-decker bridge within a week and urged authorities to raise the height of the grilles and strengthen safety measures.
