Gandhinagar : The state health department has begun intensive fogging, anti-larval measures, and surveillance in Gandhinagar after dengue cases were reported among BSF , CRPF , and ITBP personnel who arrived for the Rashtriya Ekta Divas parade.

The personnel, who began arriving in Gandhinagar from Sept 21, have been accommodated in govt quarters in Sectors 28 and 29. Reviewing the state’s overall vector-borne disease situation, Pansheriya said malaria and dengue cases had declined by 39.6% and 20.6%, respectively in 2026 compared with the previous year. Water accumulated at the newly constructed housing complex, after which some of the personnel contracted dengue, according to an official statement. The minister said adequate stocks of anti-malarial medicines, insecticides, larvicides, and other necessary equipment were available across the state. They are undergoing treatment at Gandhinagar civil hospital. Pansheriya directed officials to undertake fogging, insecticide spraying and patient tracking on a war footing. Fever surveillance, anti-larval measures and daily fogging have also been ordered at the residences as well as the parade ground. The minister instructed officials to deploy four health workers in each block at the govt housing complex. Health minister Praful Pansheriya chaired a high-level review meeting with senior health officials on Tuesday and directed the department to intensify vector-control measures in the areas where the personnel have been housed.
