Nagpur: A gang of women thieves targeted a jewellery shop worker travelling in an autorickshaw and decamped with gold ornaments worth around Rs7 lakh on Oct 3.
Sanket Khanorkar (37) who runs a jewellery business on Umred Road, asked his employee Kisan Rokde to deliver gold ornaments to a craftsman staying near Tanga Stand, according to the complaint registered at Tehsil police station. Several women were travelling in the e-rickshaw, according to the complaint. The worker carried the jewellery in a purse and travelled by e-rickshaw from Dighori to Sakkardara. He subsequently boarded another e-rickshaw from Sakkardara towards Tanga Stand. Rokde reached Tanga Stand and approached the craftsman. However, when he checked his purse, he found that the jewellery was missing. Tehsil police have registered a case for theft against unknown accused persons and are investigating how the jewellery was removed from the worker’s possession during the journey.
