Mangaluru: World Space Week-2026 was inaugurated at the Pilikula Regional Science Centre on Oct 7. The programme was organised by the Pilikula Development Authority in association with the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, and the Indian Space Research Organisation ( Isro ).

CS Madhusudhan, deputy director, URSC, inaugurated the programme and said students should be encouraged to develop a scientific temperament by cultivating the habit of questioning, examining and thinking based on evidence. He said technology should be used logically and students should apply the knowledge gained from books in their everyday lives. Prof G Srinikethan, retired professor of NITK Surathkal and chief guest, said continuous research and innovation in rocket technology had opened up new possibilities in space exploration.

The programme provided a valuable platform for interaction between students, teachers and Isro scientists, he added.
