The incident occurred around 9.40 am near Gate 3 of the Amazon office. The injured pedestrian was identified as Mohammed Afroz, 35. Yelahanka police said Afroz was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was treated for burns to his hands and discharged around 1 pm. The blast occurred between 12.30pm and 1pm.
“I saw two people walking on the footpath who sustained injuries,” Arun said. There were more RMUs along the road,” he said. Bescom officials said they had contacted Afroz through the hospital and were informed that he was doing fine. “We are going to meet him at the earliest to enquire about his condition and the incident,” an official said. Arun’s children were seated in the rear of the car and did not see the explosion. “Fortunately, my children didn’t see it. In another incident, a transformer exploded Tuesday afternoon near the Coca-Cola East Depot in Sadanandanagar, Benniganahalli, injuring four people and damaging a bike.
In the first incident on Wednesday morning, an outdoor RMU installed on the footpath outside the Amazon office on Bagaluru Main Road in northeast Bengaluru exploded, injuring a pedestrian and triggering panic among commuters.
