Shekhar Garud elected AESA president for 2026-28

Pune: Architect Shekhar Garud has been elected president of the Architects, Engineers and Surveyors Association (AESA) for the 2026-28 term. Mahesh Bangad has been appointed chairman, while Aloka Kale has been elected honorary secretary. The newly elected executive committee was formally installed at a ceremony held recently to mark World Architecture Day, which also featured a Teachers’ Day celebration. The new executive committee comprises Mahesh Bangad as chairman, Shekhar Garud as president, Sanjay Tasgaonkar as vice-president, Aloka Kale as honorary secretary, Nitin Bhole as treasurer and Manali Mahajan and Anand Kunkulol as honorary joint secretaries. The executive committee members are Ninad Jog, Jayant Patwardhan, Rama Velankar, Janhavi Patil, Abhaya Babhulkar and Amey Walvekar. The ceremony was attended by AESA trustees and architects Diwakar Nimkar, Vishwas Kulkarni and Jayant Inamdar, along with Garud, outgoing president Rajiv Raje and professionals from the architecture, engineering, academic and construction sectors.

The four awardees also shared their experiences. Architects Abhaya Babhulkar and Rama Velankar compered the programme, while Aloka Kale proposed the vote of thanks.
