Delhi woman dies after falling unconscious outside Banke Bihari temple

Agra : A 29-year-old lekhpal (revenue official) was arrested for allegedly kidnapping, abetment to suicide and destruction of evidence after the body of a 26-year-old woman preparing for the Super TET exam was recovered from Yamuna river in UP’s Etawah district.

Police said the woman from a village in Bah area went missing for a week and her brother approached the cops on Oct 4, accusing Shivjeet Bhadoria, posted at Fatehabad tehsil, of luring his sister. On Sept 29, they quarrelled and she allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan. Her body was recovered from the riverbank in Etawah’s Badpura area on Oct 6.

“During interrogation, Bhadoria told police that he had been in a relationship with the woman for about two years and that they had been living together in a rented room in Fatehabad, Agra. Bhadoria then took her body in his car and dumped it into Yamuna from the Kachoura Ghat bridge in Chitrahat area, according to police. Prima facie, she died by suicide, police said.

An FIR was subsequently registered against Bhadoria under BNS sections of kidnapping, abetment to suicide and destruction of evidence. He also said she was pressuring him to marry her despite his existing marriage,” additional DCP Manoj Kumar Yadav said on Thursday.
