Shannen Doherty’s longtime Malibu home has sold for $7.65 million, nearly two years after the actress died following a lengthy battle with cancer. Doherty bought the five-bedroom property for $2.56 million in 2004 and later described it as a private sanctuary where she could escape the demands of Hollywood. The home was listed for $9.5 million in August 2025, more than a year after her death, but attracted a buyer only after several price reductions. Realtor.com reported that the property eventually went under contract after its asking price was reduced to $8.25 million. The final sale closed for $600,000 below that figure, ending the Malibu chapter of a home closely associated with Doherty’s personal life. Doherty purchased the property after establishing herself through major television roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed. The estate covers approximately one acre and includes 5,400 square feet of living space. The property was damaged during the Woolsey Fire in 2018, which affected parts of Malibu and surrounding areas. The asking price was reduced several times, eventually reaching $8.25 million in February. The final sale price was $7.65 million, which was $600,000 below the last asking price. Compared with Doherty’s original purchase price, the property sold for approximately $5.09 million more, reported Relator.com.
Because it does not account for renovation costs, taxes, maintenance, commissions or other expenses connected with owning and selling the home, the difference does not represent pure profit. As reported by Realtor.com, Cortazzo said that when someone is a notable figure, a home can become a sanctuary. Realtor.com later reported that the property had gone pending, although the terms of the offer were not initially disclosed.
At the time, she was already familiar with the pressures of public attention, making privacy an important part of the home’s appeal. The actress found that privacy behind mature hedging on one of Malibu’s desirable streets. Its location offered a sense of seclusion while still providing the natural beauty and ocean views associated with Malibu. Doherty’s longtime friend Chris Cortazzo, who listed the property and served as executor of her estate, explained to the Wall Street Journal why the home mattered to her. Doherty later carried out an extensive renovation, rebuilding the home while retaining many of the features that gave it its character, as per the report. Inside, the design balances a neutral colour palette with warmer and more personal elements. Beamed ceilings add texture to the living areas, while the kitchen features custom cabinetry and a spacious layout. Sliding barn doors separate the dining room from the den, giving the interiors a rustic detail that contrasts with the home’s modern architecture. The home did not sell immediately.
