Hyderabad: Residents of several residential colonies around Auto Nagar in Mansoorabad have alleged that garbage, chemical waste and animal carcasses are being dumped illegally in open areas at night, causing a foul smell and posing health hazards. They urged the govt to step up surveillance and deploy pumps to drain the stagnant water.

He also said strict action would be taken against those allegedly dumping animal carcasses and other waste materials. The MLA said inspections were being carried out at chemical and fertiliser godowns and mechanical sheds in Auto Nagar industrial area. The MLA also said a watchman had been appointed and STP plants had been constructed in the past.

He assured them that officials from HYDRAA and GHMC would clear the stagnant sewage water. Legal action would be taken against those discharging waste and chemicals into drainage lines, he added. Former corporators Vithal Reddy, Tanguturi Nagaraju, Jakkidi Raghuveer Reddy, along with presidents of the affected colonies, were also present. Download the TOI App.
