Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said the family was proud to continue backing the programme and its work with young people. “City Year Kansas City is a tremendous program with a proven track record, and our family is proud to have supported its efforts for more than ten years,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “During this time, City Year has improved the lives of young people and helped to build strong, vibrant communities right here in Kansas City.
The $100,000 matching grant adds fresh momentum to a partnership built around a simple goal: giving more students the support they need to graduate and build a brighter future.
City Year Kansas City began in August 2015 with 16 AmeriCorps members serving two public schools.
“Using their platform to strengthen our community is second nature for the Hunt Family Foundation and Kansas City Chiefs, and this couldn’t be more evident than now with their matching gift for City Year KC and our work in KCMO’s public schools,” City Year Kansas City Senior Vice President and Executive Director Jeff Shafer said. Their involvement goes beyond financial contributions. The partnership has included first-day-of-school events, appearances by Chiefs players and team legends, and direct support for students in schools facing greater needs. City Year Kansas City Senior Vice President and Executive Director Jeff Shafer praised the foundation and the team’s continued commitment. “This type of strategic collaboration is what drives true impact and we’re incredibly grateful for their longstanding partnership. “
Since then, the Chiefs and the Hunt Family Foundation have remained founding team sponsors, supporting a team at Central Middle School.
